About

Lauren

Lauren hails from Rochester Hills, MI, a northern suburb of Detroit. She studied humandevelopment and psychological services at Northwestern University, and now she is finishing up her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She studies how to get more kids access to high-quality mental health care. She likes volleyball, swimming, eating and drinking, traveling, shopping, and being outdoors. She thinks Dallas is pretty cool, especially when he helps her with her psychology statistics! He was also nice enough to let Lauren go first in this About section, even though he really didn’t have a choice.

Dallas

Dallas grew up in sunny Santa Barbara, CA, surprisingly not in Texas. In 2010, he graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in chemical engineering, and he recently earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware. Now, he works for a OSIsoft, a software company in Philly. He enjoys food and drink, travel, and outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, swimming, and skiing. He especially likes the gratuitous amount of time that he and Lauren spend watching TV and movies together. He’s also getting a kick out of talking about himself in the third person, bless his heart.

How they met

Dallas and Lauren met camping in the backcountry of northern Pennsylvania while on a backpacking trip for NU freshmen. Dallas was the only one who knew how to read the map, which was very useful and impressive to his camping buddy, Lauren. Lauren did not seem extremely disgusted by Dallas’s smell after a week of not showering, which was equally impressive to Dallas. Needless to say, they hit it off and have been inseparable ever since!

Frankie

Frankie, a.k.a. Frances Underwoof, joined the party I'm fancy!in 2013. She is a Finnish Lapphund, but since most people don’t know what that is, she thinks it is most important that people know that she is a fancy lady! Her interests include giving licks, running in circles, and doing agility courses in her own special way. Her dislikes include squirrels. Woof!

  1. This would be a good place to acknowledge Thacher School for your highly skilled camping/backpacking abilities which clearly impressed Lauren on your first NU trip together!
